we have been talking for months about influenza A(H1N1). we have seen the death toll, we have heard of the precautionary measures taken, we have had enough of the rising statistics of casualties. quarantine procedures, suspension of classes, absence with leave and more. have you ever wonder why influenza A is called/labeled H1N1? could it have been H2N2 or H3N1 or any number combination? why H1N1? i found out that this label refers to the two proteins found in the surface of the virus. there are 16 subtypes/strains of H virus and 9 subtypes/strains of N virus found in birds. there are only H1,2 and 3 and N1 and 2 commonly found in humans. the first strain of virus is found in human. so what's in a name? H refers to the hemagglutinin and N refers to the neuraminidase. (could it have been the blood and the nerves?) you follow this up...

MAKE-UP WORK
All CSA students are required to do the make-up work in Social Studies in lieu of the meetings missed due to the suspension of classes.
GENERAL INSTRUCTION: Read the following questions and write your answers on a one whole sheet of intermediate paper. Limit your answer to 2 to 3 paragraphs per question. This will be credited as your QUIZ 1 in Social Studies with a total score of 30 points.
1. Do you think CSA had enough preparation against A (H1N1)?
FOLLOW UP QUESTIONS
>>Were there measures done to prevent the further spread of the infection?
>>What did you feel when you had to report to school knowing that a bunch of your
classmates were found as suspected positive with A (H1N1)?
2. If you were the school administration, what steps would you have taken in response to the A (H1N!)?
FOLLOW UP QUESTIONS
>>Would you have declared a 10-day suspension period?
>>How would you deal with the missed days of classes?
THIS WILL BE SUBMITTED TO YOUR RESPECTIVE SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHERS ON MONDAY, 13 JULY 2009. CLASSES WILL RESUME ON MONDAY, 6 JULY.
Thank you.
